Dummy Text Lok Dhuni Foundation is a registered charitable trust founded in 2023. It works for conservation & continuity of Rajasthan's rich cultural traditions.

'Lok Dhuni' means traditional knowledge and culture of a land and its people.

  • Instrument makers are an important part of the folk music ecosystem
  • These being geography- and community-based instruments, have smaller markets: all hand crafted
  • Like music, this knowledge is also passed from one generation to another as a family tradition
  • For a number of instruments, number of makers is dwindling creating a threat of being lost forever
  • Lok Dhuni plans to make interventions for identification and transfer of this vital knowledge

  • Founder Trustees played an important role in formulation of Lok Kalakaar Yojana of Government of Rajasthan
    • 100 days' performance opportunities per family per year to folk artistes
  • Lok Dhuni plans to:
    • Work with the State Govt to make the Scheme more effective
    • Work on more policy advocacy initiatives

  • Developing institution-centric music learning programme for Manganiyar children based on traditional music training methodologies
  • Documentation of the rich repertoire of traditional Manganiyar songs for various occasions
  • Developing the support ecosystem esp folk instruments
  • Training a batch of 60 trainees, over a period of one year
  • Replicating this model for other communities
